ABOUT:
Through hands-on workshops, a makers' bazaar and citizen science fair, tours, and plant sale, the two-day event will be an interactive showcase of living local economies, urban ecologies, and botanical explorations.
Our programming partners are an expansive and inclusive group of thinkers and doers who are stewards of the urban landscape. We will gather ecologists, botanists, artists, educators, historians, floral designers, large-scale compost companies, makers, designers, craftspeople, community associations, botanic gardens, tool companies, farmers, universities, and others to discuss and share opportunities for daily engagement with nature in the city.
UNDERSTORY aims to gather a broad audience— with programming meant to engage and connect diverse sectors of the city: amateur and experienced plant enthusiasts, as well as artists, designers, families, writers, chefs, academics and anyone who is curious about our regional natural landscape.
WHY UNDERSTORY:
By highlighting an unexpected cross-section of businesses, organizations, educators and artists, our event will create valuable ties between participants while connecting you to new audiences, customers, and supporters. As our attendees discover your work and the work of those around you, we hope to strengthen their curiosity and commitment to finding ways to engage with nature on a regular basis, no matter where they live.
